For the love of strawberries……

God has blessed Pakistan with so many wonderful things, be it historical sites of Pakistan,4 wonderful seasons or amazingly tasty fruits which grow here. Yes. My lovely country Pakistan is blessed in so many ways. I am from Pakistan and today’s recipe is about one of the yummiest fruits which we grow here.



Being an agricultural country an interesting thing which happens here is you get to know about the change of season with the help of different fruits you get to see being sold in the stalls at the road side. When winters are about to start you see juicy oranges everywhere. Likewise our road sides are filled with fruit carts full of mangoes and strawberries when summer is about to commence in Pakistan. There are many other fruits to enjoy but today’s story is about very red and beautiful strawberries I used to bake strawberry short cake.




This recipe of baking strawberry short cake is really simple to and will leave every one praising your talent. You will need 1 cup marshmallows first. Place them into a greased pan and side by side mix together 3 ounces of gelatin with 16 ounces of frozen strawberries and set aside for some time. Now take ½ cup butter and 1- ½ cup sugar and beat together until it becomes creamy. Add 3 eggs one by one and keep on beating nicely. Beat in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Add dry ingredients i.e. 2- ¼ cup flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt into the creamy mixture alternately with 1 cup milk and mix well.




Add butter into the greased pan filled with marshmallows then add batter into the pan and pour strawberry mixture evenly. Bake for 45-50 minutes in pre-heated oven at 180 degrees. You can serve it without any icing but I love to have mine with butter cream lemon icing.
