Little humor won’t kill your baking skills......

In my earlier post, I mentioned that I used to bake apple pie for a very dear friend. Today I am about to share this recipe with you guys but before that I have to share one interesting incident regarding apple pie. In my region people have special love for food. These people have a crazy craving for spicy food. They have huge menus full of greasy spicy dishes.
One of the dishes which is made by goat legs can be eaten at any time i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner. It takes a lot of hard work and time to cook this dish and has nothing to do with baking. Most important fact is that it is NEVER served as dessert.

One day while we were still enjoying winters in my part of the world, I decided to bake apple pie for desert. I called my hubby and told him that I am about to make a pie for you. He got really excited as he’s the biggest fan of my cooking and baking.

So for crust of apple pie, I took 2 cups of flour and mixed it with 90 grams of butter along with 1 tea-spoon salt. Added 3 to 4 table spoons of water to the mixture and mixed well. I placed that dough into refrigerator for 30 minutes. For filling I took 8-10 medium sized apples and chopped them into medium sized pieces. Added 1/3 cup white sugar, 1/3 brown sugar, ¼ salt, ½ cinnamon powder, 3 table spoon flour and lemon juice of 4 medium size lemons into the bowl filled with apples. Mixed it with a wooden spoon nicely and placed into the refrigerator for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes dough and filling both were ready to be baked. I first baked this pie for 15 minutes at 200 degrees. After that, I turned down the temperature to 190 degrees and baked for another 45 minutes. I did not forget to brush egg white over the crust before placing it into the oven. My yummiest apple pie was ready to be served with ice cream.

When my beloved hubby came home and asked for the pie, I told him that it will be served after the dinner. He gave me a strange look and asked why on earth I wanted to serve it in dessert. Because it is sweet and is served as dessert that’s why I want to serve it after dinner. After hearing this he could not stop laughing, on seeing him laughing I realized the actual miss understanding between us. He thought I made our traditional dish with goat legs for dinner. We kept laughing for some times on the similarity of the word. After that whenever I bake apple pie I clearly mention the word apple with it just to avoid the miss understanding again.
