Cakes, Candles and Balloons.

Today I am sharing my experience of baking a birthday cake for one year old. Now a days definition of well baked cake is quite different than those which I used to eat in my childhood. As when you are a kid birthdays are the most memorable event of your life. Whether it’s your birthday or someone else‘s, excitement while looking at a birthday cake is unforgettable. Although times have changed a lot but still whenever I go to a birthday party I get to see the same excitement among kids regarding cake. Vibrant colour icing attracts them so much that they want to get hold of the cake. My childhood memories are full of such moments. When you are young cake’s taste does not matter, all what matters is how beautiful and coolourful it looks.
I still remember during my childhood when I used to see cakes other than round and square, one question which used to appear in my mind was how they have been made? This is the same question I have been asked many times since the day I started baking. Couple of weeks back I got to bake a birthday cake for an year old. Order was placed by his aunt who wanted it to be little different. So i decided to bake a turtle cake which turned out good. Interestingly people asked me in the party “how did you do it” this question took me into past where I tried finding answer to the same question.so here’s the reply.
I made cake mixture with 6 eggs, 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of sugar,1 cup of cooking oil, 1 tea spoon of baking powder and last but not the least few drops of banana flavor. Mixing them all together I place half of the mixture into round baking pan and filled 5 paper cups with rest of the mixture and baked it for 25 minute at 180 degree. For icing I mixed 1 cup of Crisco with 1 cup of unsalted butter, 1 tea spoon of vanilla, and 8 cups of icing sugar. By dividing this icing into two bowls, I coloured one brown while left other half white. By placing round cake in the middle and cupcakes around them I joined them with the help of icing.

Kids fell in love with this cute little turtle the moment they saw it. Their touching it with tiny little fingers reminded me of good old days when birthdays were all about cakes, candles and balloons.

Well... love the fact that for once kids are under the lime light and Chapeau to "Piece of Cake" who ...are thinking outside the box and unlike any other bakery, just not considering their work only as a money minting business...... Baking is an art and art is related to emotions..... and when it comes to unconditional appreciation what better feed back can you get other than looking in the eyes of a kid who is staring at the cake which is making him feel on top of the world...... taste is not an option its a prerequisite ..... presentation on the other hand is what makes the difference...and thats where innovation comes in...... in my point of view, Piece of Cake is giving an amazing opportunity to people who want their kids and themselves to seek in terms of what they want rather than only opting for what they need....... sweet wishes on this sweet venture of yours....."

Thank you every one for your appreciation.
